Sigi, in Norse mythology, a son of the principal god, Odin, and grandfather
of the brave warrior Volsung, after whom the Volsung line of heroes, including
Sigmund and Sigurd, was named. Odin fathered Sigi in one of his many amorous
dalliances. Sigi grew up to be an outlaw and a murderer, but he later went
on to become a king. Before he died he fathered Rerir, who became the father
of Volsung. The family's story is recounted in the Scandinavian prose epic
'Volsunga Saga'.
